Rock 101 has evolved throughout the years, but there is one thing that has remained the same since 2011. One thing that is so perfect in its conception, so genuine in its impact, and so thoughtful in its execution that further evolution is not required: The Paper Vinyl Award.

Our students are multi-faceted and so much fun to get to know. With that in mind, we have decided to highlight a few students each month, spreading their awesomeness to the Rock 101 community.

So you started taking music lessons. Love it. Bought your own instrument? That’s the best. You're putting in the work, practicing every day. Awesome. You are practically a rock star. But now what?

Allison’s early years with Rock 101 shifted her perspective from being someone who quite happily accepted life to someone who actively experiences life.

Kevin stepped into the original Summer Sessions of 2011 with 30 kids and several dedicated friends standing beside him. Rich with his knowledge of the positive and negative aspects of the music world, Kevin decided that he would provide a space that honored his newfound value: musical integrity. He would create an environment where there was less compromise and more collaboration.

Understanding the magic that happened when she colored outside of the lines brought Kristen’s violin practice to life. Just like her laugh, her musical talents shine best when she uses them joyfully and in a way that is true to herself.
