summer sessions

Learn an Instrument | Start a band | Perform Live

In a crash course exercise at the beginning of day one, our students get to play on each instrument and choose which one they want to specialize in throughout the one-week program.

Once students have decided on their instrument of choice, they will separate into small groups of like-skilled musicians and receive personalized instruction. Beginner, intermediate, or advanced small groups (1 instructor/ 3-4 rockers).

After instrument-specific instruction, the students will form bands with their friends. A music coach will be assigned to each band to help them work on perfecting a song of their choice to perform at our Friday concert!

Each student will receive a welcome bundle with a custom summer session t-shirt, branded water bottle, earplugs, and a limited edition sticker.

musical skills.

During the week, we dedicate focused sessions to elevate your mastery of your instrument of choice, be it guitar, bass, drums, piano, ukulele, or vocals, ensuring that your musical journey is not only about content but also about the finesse in your performance.

stage presence.

Presentation is just as important as the content. We will pick apart aspects of non-verbal communication to help students enhance their stage performance.

band rehearsal.

Students will be placed into bands and asked to work in a team setting to collaborate with one another to achieve the task of performing live at the end of the week while developing strong band chemistry.

Stage set-up.

In the world of rock ‘n roll, there are countless things that can go wrong with equipment on stage. With a little bit of knowledge, our students will have a head-start at fixing technical difficulties. They will also learn about lighting and mixing; two integral components of making a great show.

Break Time & Battle of the bands

People are more productive when they have breaks, and even more so when they have snacks! Every day we take mini-breaks to eat something nutritious and move our bodies. Every Thursday, we host a lively "Battle of the Bands," pitting musical groups against each other in an exciting obstacle course. It's a test of both physical and mental prowess, fueled by the week's music knowledge.

Guest Performers

Each session we host a live performance from a local band or musician that has real experience and success in the music world. After the concert, students will have a chance to ask about the performers experiences on the road, in the studio, and on stage. Performers will then sit in on students’ band practices and help them move forward with constructive criticism.

CONCERT

On Friday of each session students put their new skills to the test by rocking out to a sold out concert!

THAT was the best camp experience my son has ever had. He’s a tough customer and, as you know, he was a bit worried about the performance part. But every single day he came home talking about how much fun he had. Also, he had a blast performing—he was really proud of his hard work. Bravo and thank you!!

My mom gave me your email so I could write and say thank you since I didn’t get to say it after the show. Rock 101 was awesome, and I plan to do it again next year. Getting to perform in front of an audience was such a great thing. I learned a lot throughout the two weeks! Maybe I could continue lessons during the year. Thanks for everything!

The camp has given my daughter a much-needed boost in her self-confidence. She didn’t make it into the show choir at school after the May auditions and consequently decided she had no musical talent. I left her at camp the first day with tears in her eyes. After trying drums on the first day of camp, she thought she’d never catch on. By the second day of camp, she had made some improvements and really started enjoying herself. Now, she’s beaming every afternoon when I come to pick her up! She walks around the house singing. We borrowed a drum kit from some friends, and she plays it every day. You’ve truly helped her rediscover her love of making music but, most importantly, helped her rediscover her self-confidence!!!
